Personalised creative arts and community activities shaped around individual needs
A personal profile plan is developed for every participant joining the Creative Hub. Time is taken to understand individual interests, preferences and goals, with programmes built around these rather than a fixed timetable.
Participation is voluntary, with options reviewed regularly and adjusted as interests change or confidence develops. Activities may include:
Art workshops, including painting, crafts and sensory art experiences
Kapa haka, music sessions and karaoke
Archery, Special Olympics and gym visits
Event planning, such as afternoon teas
Library visits, bingo and velodrome outings
Choice remains central throughout the week. Activities are not prescribed, allowing participants to engage at their own pace. For those exploring something new, support is patient and low-pressure, with enough variety to maintain interest.
Progress is guided by individual goals and current abilities, and is reflected in practical outcomes such as trying new activities, increased participation and greater comfort in group settings.
